Increased Access to Data
Over the past three years, MSAC's website has developed into an up-to-date, one-stop shop of crime data specific to Maryland jurisdictions. The website includes UCR charts and graphs, offender DNA collection charts and graphs, research projects of interest, maps of grant funding and crime data, and much more. MSAC conducts a thorough analysis of Maryland UCR crime data and creates various statistical reports, charts, graphs, and other documents as needed for GOCCP, Maryland StateStat, Criminal Justice Stakeholders, and the general public as requested.
Crime Mapping and Analysis
GOCCP funds a grant to Washington College for the "Crime Mapping and Analysis Program," which provides crime mapping, training, and other valuable support services to law enforcement and public safety agencies throughout Maryland. MSAC works closely with Washington College Crime Mapping and Analysis and delegates to them various mapping requests from GOCCP and other public safety stakeholders.
MSAC compiles data and completes the analysis for GOCCP's Managing for Results (MFR) report, which is vital for GOCCP to continue operations. MSAC also maintains and updates a performance measure database that allows for the quarterly tracking of performance measures for all GOCCP grants. In the future, MSAC will work with GOCCP to enhance the performance measures of various grant programs, including Byrne/JAG, Gun Violence Reduction Grant (GVRG), and Maryland Safe Streets (MDSS), to name a few.
